What is thin blood or thrombocytophenia?

Thrombocytopenia refers to the decrease in number of a type of blood cells called platelets. Platelets help in blood coagulation. So when there number decreases the bleeding takes loger time to stop. The decrease in the number of platelet cells could be due to many reasons. For further details please see these links:
