| Q. What is the goal of a Homoeopathic physician?
A. To CURE the sick person.
The exponent of Homoeopathy defined the word CURE in Aphor. 2
in his Organon of Medicine:
The highest ideal of cure is rapid,
gentle and permanent restoration of the health, or removal and annihilation
of the disease in its whole extent, in the shortest, most reliable,
and most harmless way, on easily comprehensible principles.
In Aphor. 3 he elaborated the knowledge a homoeopathic physician
should possess:
If the physician clearly perceives what
is to be cured in diseases, that is to say, in every individual
case of disease (knowledge of disease, indication), if he clearly
perceives what is curative in medicines, that is to say, in each
individual medicine (knowledge of medicinal powers), and if he knows
how to adapt, according to clearly defined principles, what is curative
in medicines to what he has discovered to be undoubtedly morbid
in the patient, so that the recovery must ensue - to adapt it, as
well in respect to the suitability of the medicine most appropriate
according to its mode of action to the case before him (choice of
the remedy, the medicine indicated), as also in respect to the exact
mode of preparation and quantity of it required (proper dose), and
the proper period for repeating the dose:-if, finally, he knows
the obstacles to recovery in each case and is aware how to remove
them, so that the restoration may be permanent: then he understands
how to treat judiciously and rationally, and he is a true practitioner
of the healing art.
Not only the above knowledge he must also possess knowledge of
hygiene, errors in diet, errors in mode of living – proper
exercise, common sense, etc. So the Aphor. 4:
He is likewise a preserver of health
if he knows the things that derange health and cause disease, and
how to remove them from persons in health.
When the homoeopathic physician proceeds intelligently, using the
above knowledge following the basic rules:
Similia Similibus Curantur.
Single, Simple, Minimum.
Then he meets the miracles of the Infinitesimal doses in the form
of CURE as defined above.
After going through the Philosophy of Homoeopathy – Organon
by Hahnemann, Lectures and Articles by other writers like Kent,
Stuart Close, Herbert A. Roberts, Dunham and various others it dawned
upon me that as homoeopathic physicians we simply have to stimulate
the Life Force which keeps the body alive in health as well in sickness
(Hahnemann termed the same as VITAL FORCE or DYNAMIS or AUTOCRACY
or VITAL PRINCIPLE). To stimulate this dynamic VITAL FORCE we do
not require large and physiological doses rather the remedies must
be in dynamic form and in smallest possible small dose. You know
we do not need a baleful of fire to ignite a barrel of petrol, a
tiny spark is sufficient.
When in practice the treatment is carried out following the basic
rules of the science of CURE using simultaneously the necessary
common sense the outcome becomes artistically scientific.
Hereunder I am giving a few unique cases of alarming and violent
nature:
Case 1. A Case of Thrush
Mrs. S… Age: 76 years
It is an incident of 1984. I was called to see a lady, who was
also my relative. She was a chronic patient of asthma. Now she was
suffering from thrush. Whole of her buccal cavity and the tongue
were covered densely with ivory white coating. She had much stitching
and burning pain in whole area of the mouth. She had profuse salivation,
so much the saliva was constantly flowing out of her mouth even
while she was asleep and nearly filling twenty-four cups in twenty-four
hours.
Such a condition of her developed in about three weeks while she
was under the care of a well reputed and highly qualified allopathic
physician, who at this stage feeling reluctant. She became unable
not only to swallow the tablets of the medicine but even water.
In such a condition I was called to see and help her. I had seen
such a case fist time in my life and I pray that God may not put
any one in such condition ever.
In the beginning I gave her Nitricum
acidum 30 but it gave her only slight relief in two
weeks. By that time she became impatient, and as such she again
visited the same allopathic physician from whom she was taking treatment
previously. Finding improvement in her condition he advised her
to continue the homoeopathic treatment. As she was too anxious about
the suffering and insisting to do something better I gave Nitricum
acidum in 1M potency and Lo! The miracle took place.
The salivation stopped magically overnight and within next three
days she was perfectly well. She lived for about eight years more
but the trouble in mouth never returned.
