There was a one day seminar by Dr. Surmeet Singh Mavi at Ganganagar
(Rajasthan, India) on January 12th. Dr. Mavi is the head of the
North India branch of Dr. Praful Vijyakar's School of Predictive
Homeopathy. Dr. Vijyakar has done some wonderful new work on the
theory of suppression, relationship of embryology and Hering's law
of cure, miasms etc.
Me and my guru, Dr. Arvind Sharma, both were interested in learning
more about Dr Vijaykar's approach, so we decided to attend the seminar
in spite of a very cold weather and a 12 hour journey. When we reached
Ganganagar on 12th morning, the temperature was about 5 degrees
Celsius and the thick fog reduced the visibility to about 10-15
meters.
The seminar started at around 11 a.m. with an explanation of the
aphorism 1 of Orgnon. The 1st aphorism states - "The physician's
high and only mission is to restore the sick to health..".
Dr. Mavi focussed on the words 'restoring the 'sick' to health'.
He said that Hahnemann did not write that physician's mission is
to remove the disease in a man because his focus was more on the
'sick' and less on the 'sickness'. He very strongly said that one
has to treat the 'man in disease' and not the 'disease in man'.
Using the same reasoning he showed the folly in using the combination
remedies.
After giving a good understanding of what needs to be cured in
a person he moved on to the difference between cure and suppression.
From there began the exciting journey into Dr. Vijayakar's 'Theory
of Suppression'. It was a wonderful experience to relate the suppression
and progression of disease with the modern concepts of embryology.
The focus was on Dr. Vijaykar's 'Chart of Suppression' which lists
how to trace the direction of movement of disease by judging the
level of involvement of ectoderm, mesoderm and endoderm.
After understanding the direction of suppression, it was time to
understand the direction of cure. The Hering's law of cure was very
scientifically explained using the same concepts of embryology.
At the end, Dr. Mavi elaborated the mental symptoms of Nux vomica
in an effort to show the approach for judging the 'person' who is
diseased. It was a wonderful and comprehensive illustration.
Dr. Mavi's speech was full of verve and enthusiasm. Filled with
case examples and humorous anecdotes his speech (in a mixture of
Hindi, Punjabi, and English) lasted for about 5 hours.
The seminar ended at about 5 p.m. We boarded the train at 7 p.m.
for our return journey, feeling a bit more enlightened and enriched!!
