| Dear Friends,
I have been trying to write the editorial for this issue since
last two days, but I seem to be suffering from a writer's block!
The mind is not producing something coherent so I'll let my heart
speak today. And my heart is that of a poet so I'll start by sharing
some beautiful lines that David Warkentin sent to me a few weeks
ago:
THE TAO
Close your eyes and you will see clearly
Cease to listen and you will hear the truth
Be silent and your heart will sing :-)
Seek no contacts and you will find union
Be still and you will move forward
Be gentle and you will need no strength
Be patient and you will achieve all things
Be humble and you will remain entire
Read these lines again ...slowly ...one line at a time. Ponder
over its meaning and the wisdom that hides within. If you are able
to reflect on these words, you will find ways to improve your life
in many ways - even as a homeopath!
The practice of homeopathy needs patience, a stillness within,
humility and gentleness. If you have all these virtues, homeopathy
has much to offer you. Patience has helped even in the growth of
Hpathy. Sometimes we seek little, yet we end up gaining a lot. When
we started building this issue, we started working without any expectations
and little content in hand. But gradually the content started pouring
in, many times unexpectedly, and we ended up producing the biggest
ever single publication on homeopathic repertories! The issue became
so big that Alan, my associate editor, joked that we should start
offering a speed-reading course to our subscribers.
The
joy is not that it is a massive publication but in seeing how it
came about. We sent many requests and nobody turned us down. Many
people sent their contributions voluntarily. There was a convergence
effect at work - individually the contributions, though excellent,
might not produce the impact that the collective effort will. And
what a collective effort this has been, with people like Roger van
Zandvoort, Fredrick Schroyens, Robin Murphy, J. A. Mirilli, Ian
Watson, Todd Rowe, Jeremy Sherr, George Loukas, Sumit Goel, D P
Rastogi, Rudi Verspoor, Vladimir Polony, David Warkentin etc. coming
together in one publication! All of them have shared their knowledge
freely. They have come together and discussed repertories ranging
from Kent, Boennighausen and Card repertories to many modern repertories
like Complete, Synthesis, Thematic Repertory, Organon 2001 Repertory,
Repertory of Mental Qualities, and Clinical Repertory. Lex Rutten
and Rob Willemse go even further and have discussed ways of improving
our repertories in the future.
The editorial team also chipped in with their own excellent contributions.
Katja Schuett wrote a very comprehensive and useful comparison of
different repertorization methods, Alan Schmukler traced the language
of the patient to the rubrics of mind in Kent and Edward de Beukelaer
discusses the degree and specificity of symptoms in the repertory.
Many articles are filled with clinical cases and there are many
other interesting articles, including a new feature - repertory
quiz. So what you get in the end stands true to the holistic philosophy
of homeopathy:
The whole is greater than the sum of
its parts!
I just wish that this coming together of thoughts and people will
continue - not just at Hpathy - but at every point in our homeopathic
community. Life is too beautiful to fight and fritter away and it
is too short to love enough. So use every moment of it to spread
love and happiness in everybody's life. Don't waste your moments
in hatred and animosity. See how Hpathy has grown with the collective
effort and contribution of the community and use this model to make
homeopathy grow throughout the world!
Once we start helping each other enough, we will receive help from
people outside our community too. One example lies within this issue
- a human geneticist from Germany, Dr. Gabriele Hickmann, has proposed
a dialogue to explore the relationship of epigenetics with the homeopathic
concepts of miasms and vital force. So if you are interested, do
write to her.
There is much more for you to explore. Go, submerge yourself in
this rich pool of knowledge and wisdom and once you are done, do
send your comments and feedback to editor@hpathy.com
Yours in Homeopathy,
